Clean The City
It was a Sunday to remember as 20,000 people in Jakarta from all works of life gathered to join in the fourth “Clean Up Jakarta Day”. Hand in hand they worked closely with the Dinas Kebersihan DKI (Jakarta’s Sanitation Department) to help clean 53 different spots in the capital city including two areas in Tangerang. These volunteers, who were labeled “Clean Up Heroes,” managed to collect 80,000 kilograms of waste from the streets and gutters and delivered 30,000 kilograms to Bank Sampah (The Waste Bank) for recycling. This movement is also taken root in other areas of Indonesia, including Bandung in West Java and Bali.
