Reveal the new hidden gem in West Bali...
It was 10 a.m. when my group left Bali Dynasty Resort in Kuta for Menjangan in West Bali using the resort’s shuttle service. The journey took three hours but it was all well worth it as the view of Bali’s beautiful landscape pleased our eyes. And when we got to our destination, we knew we were about to reveal a new hidden gem on the island. Nestled by the sea in Menjangan, Menjangan Dynasty Resort is truly a one-of-a-kind place to stay that will bring us closer to nature.
“Welcome to Menjangan Dynasty Resort,” a number of staff greeted us as we stepped out of the car. Helping us with our baggage, they led us to the alfresco lobby to assist us with our check in. While waiting for the check-in process, I couldn’t stop admiring the scenery from the bamboo-constructed lobby – the lobby boasts the resort’s infinity pool, the tranquil bay and the lush greenery on the other side of the bay.It was like a layer after layer of beauty.
But that is only the beginning. Once the staff confirmed that my room was ready, I hopped on one of the electric carts, not knowing I was about to reveal another surprise...
Strolling through the pebbled path on the electric cart, I could see the roofs of the beach tents lined up nicely on one side, while the view of the bay pleased my eyes on the other side. Menjangan Dynasty Resort is unlike any other resort on the island. The property presents 24 glamorous Beach Camp Tents and four Cliff Tent Villas. I stayed at one of the Beach Camp Tents, and believe me, it was an experience to cherish for life.
The electric cart dropped me off right outside my beach tent. Another staff was already waiting at the terrace, ready to explain all the features in the tent to me. She opened the glass door with an electric key card – which proves that the eco-tents are thoughtfully-designed with top-notch security. As I entered the tent, the interior made my jaw drop. If you’re one of the Harry Potter fans like I am, your mind must wander straight to the wizard camps in the series.
The Beach Tent is more spacious than it looks on the outside. A queen-size bed sits in the middle of the tent, surrounded by furniture made of natural materials, like the merbau hardwood floor, a rattan- panelled wardrobe and safari-style boxes for the fridge and kitchen utensils. The tent is also equipped with an air-conditioner and a TV, but my most favorite feature is the bathroom that lies behind the bed. A rattan separator is standing to cover the toilet on the left side, while a wash basin with a round mirror on the wall takes the middle space. Next to it was a monsoon shower covered with a curtain. The shower is surrounded by black rubber on the floor to keep the floor on the other side of the curtain dry – another proof that the tent is well-designed to meet our needs.
Menjangan Dynasty Resort also highlightes sustainable and eco tourism. In each tent, for instance, two water bottles are provided for guests to refill from the water stations that stand in several spots throughout the resort area. The Beach Tent also has an open-air deck, a perfect spot to unwind during the afternoon. Another highlight is the windows that are made of anti-musquito net which can be covered with curtains when night time falls – and I was glad that no bugs bugged my good night’s sleep in the tent.
Aside from the Beach Camp Tent, Menjangan Dynasty Resort also has one-and two-bedroom Cliff Tent Villas, each is available in two units. These Cliff Tent Villas literally take camping to whole new level with a private infinity pool overlooking the tranquil ocean. The two-bedroom Chill Tent Villa – which is remarkable for families – looks even more stylish with a wooden chandelier and a comfortable sofa, and is equipped with a bathtub. From the Cliff Tent Villas, guests can also see a glimpse of Menjangan Island across the sea.
Menjangan Dynasty Resort is quite secluded but it doesn’t mean that there’s nothing you can do here. Collaborating with Bali Hai Diving Adventures, the resort provides Pasir Putih Dive & Watersports Centre that can take guests to scuba diving and snorkeling. Other water sports are also available, like kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding. But if you’re not into water sports, don’t worry because the resort also offers trekking, cycling, birdwatching, yoga exercises, excursions to nearby tourist destinations and more.
If you long to just relax at the resort, the bamboo-constructed Pasir Putih Spa by Ambiente will pamper you with a list of spa treatments. Lounging by the infinity pool with the view of the bay will also take your troubles away. The beachfront Pasir Putih Beach Club is also a wonderful spot to unwind with their delicious meals and drinks. With the view of the tranquil ocean and lush greenery, a quiet surrounding and five-star facilities, Menjangan Dynasty Resort is more than just an eco-friendly resort. It is a place to hide from the world for a while while reconnecting yourself with nature.
