Take a relaxing massage treatment at Jiwa Spa...

Amidst the quiet Nusa Dua, Jiwa Spa stands at the end of an alley adorned with beautiful ponds at Conrad Bali hotel. Walking into the spa, a soothing aroma was filling up the space, taking me straight to a relaxed peace of mind. In one of the corners, a wooden shelf displaying a number of spa products was standing. I took a seat in one of the chairs when Spa Manager Ketut Sandiyadnya (Sandi) welcomed me.

“Jiwa Spa is all about relaxation. We aim to help people release stress and smoothen their blood flow,” Sandi explained. A list of treatments are available, from their signature treatments like Ocean Flow and Volcanic Awakening to facials, body wrap and couple treatments like Rama Shinta and Jegeg Bagus. Sandi suggested I take the Ocean Flow treatment. “The Ocean Flow focuses on three points; flow, rhythm, and connection supported by great atmosphere for relaxation. This treatment uses a long-stroke technique, truly relaxing from head to toe. It’s great to overcome high-blood pressure and smoothen blood flow.” Listening to his explanation about the Ocean Flow, I was intrigued.

For most of the treatments, Jiwa Spa uses local massage oil as suggested by the Tourism Ministry to support local products. “We have lavender oil to reduce stress, while the peppermint oil is perfect to refresh energy. We also have a tropical fruits oil,” Sandi explained. Of all the oil they have, I was in love with the lavender as the aroma was really calming. I didn’t think twice about choosing this oil to accompany my treatment that day.

    Go with the Flow
A therapist then approached me and took me to the treatment area through a door next to the reception desk. Designed with wooden walls and warm lighting, the treatment area was so peaceful yet feels homey at the same time. Jiwa Spa has a number of single rooms and couple rooms, and they are now redecorating their villa spas.

“Here we are,” said my therapist as she led me to a treatment room. A single bed was standing in the middle of the room. A shower with a glass door was in one of the corners. And with warm lighting and soothing music, I started my pampering journey with a footbath then lying down on the bed with my face down. A couple of seconds later, I could hear a sound of a bell, “Ting!” – my therapist marked the beginning of my Ocean Flow treatment.

The 90-minute treatment was a true bliss. The aroma of lavender oil put me to a peaceful state of mind, and the combination of the essential oil blend with smooth strokes and on-point acupressure was soothing my sore muscles in an instant. The best part of this treatment was when my therapist took long flowing movements like the ocean waves on my back. It was so amazing, I felt like not only my sore muscles were eased, but also all of the burden on my shoulders were drifting away.

The treatment was followed by a massage on my front and a dry massage on my face and head. I felt so calm when another sound of a bell resounded in the treatment room, marking the end of my journey. As I opened my eyes, I felt refreshed and anew. This treatment was all I needed after a long week of work.

But my pampering day at Conrad Bali wasn’t done yet. Jiwa Spa has a complete facility for spa guests, from a private swimming pool to a separate “his” and “hers” room, each one has lockers, a cold plunge pool and a Jacuzzi. I mean, you don’t want to take these facilities for granted, right?
