And among all the trends happening in Jakarta, eating healthy food is probably one of the most beneficial trends to help balance our lives. Now, the question is: where can you find healthy food in Jakarta? It’s actually not that difficult. Here, we have a small list of healthy foods and beverages and where to find them – the places are not just for you to dine in but also to do grocery shopping for your kitchen supplies. Most of the foods and drinks are made of locally-sourced produce to support the lives of the farmers surrounding Jakarta.

    Tea Elixir

Good news for Jakarta people as the Bali-based kombucha producer Happy Kombucha – Secret Lab is now available in the capital city. This trending healthy drink – which originates from an ancient recipe of fermented tea – can be easily found in the heart of the city, at the Beets and Bouts Café in the SCBD area of South Jakarta.

Beets and Bouts offers a variety flavor of kombucha, ranging from Magui Berry Sangria, Happyella Ginger, Joy Berris, Hawaiian Mojito, Tarmonic Apple, Coffee Tiramisu, and more. Different flavors have different benefits for our health. For instance, the Happyella Ginger – which contains hibiscus and ginger – is wonderful to relax our mind and body. Meanwhile, the Watermelon Rose made from watermelon, rosemary and black pepper functions to rehydrate and energize.

Need a glass of Happy Kombucha between your meeting schedules? Just head to the basement level of the Fairgrounds building. The cafe is actually a sanctuary in the middle of a busy area, making it the perfect place for you to catch your breath and sip some kombucha drink in the middle of the day.

    Green In A Bun

If you’re looking for a delicious healthy dish, Burgreens has the answer. Claimed as Jakarta’s first organic healthy plant-based eatery and catering business, this restaurant – which is located on the lower ground of Pacific Place in Sudirman – offers selections of signature veggie burgers. Opt for the Mini Trio that consists of three different burgers; the Mighty Mushroom, Battle Beans and Spinach Chickpeas. Though they are served in small sizes, they are still fulfilling. The Big Max Burger is also worth a try. Made of whole wheat buns with homemade raw vegan mayo, this burger comes with chips and vegan cream cheese.

Aside from burgers, the restaurant also offers other healthy food, such as Crispy Tofu Salad, Raw Mushroom Noodles and Burgreens Matah Salad. Don’t forget to pair the dish with their refreshing drinks like coconut water or choose from the cold-pressed juices selection. Burgreens are also available at Union Yoga in Dharmawangsa and at Organik Klub in Tebet.
