A Short Getaway to Ubud
It was one of those weekends when my husband and I decided to take our little family on a quality time in Ubud. As a new resident of Bali, we checked out Booking.com, an online booking service, to see the best place to stay – and our eyes were locked on Tetirah Boutique Hotel that rates 9.5 out of 10 based on guest review. In fact, it was just opened in July 2016, yet it has already achieved the Guest Review Awards 2016 by Booking.com. We couldn’t wait to prove it ourselves!
Located only 10 minutes away by walk from the Ubud Palace in downtown Ubud, Tetirah was neither big nor luxurious. The hotel was simply calm and warm with a bunch of small trees on the manicured garden and touches of Balinese traditional decoration and contemporary art on the interior.
As soon as we walked into the lobby area, we felt as if we were at home. It was almost 10 p.m. already, and the hotel staff greeted us nicely and was very attentive in helping with our check in, especially when they responded to our request for an extra bed. Not long after, we were escorted to our room. Tetirah has 16 guestrooms – the first eight rooms are located near the entrance, while the other eight is in front of the pool.
Between the dimmed lighting, we passed the poolside and finally walked up the stairs to reach our room. We stayed in the 32-square-meter Deluxe Room, which was pretty modest in terms of space. The room is designed with wooden ceiling as the vocal point, and also features a Balinese-style shower, open shelves for clothes and a mini bar. But our favorite was definitely the balcony where we could see the swimming pool and the hotel’s dining area.
Aside from the Deluxe Rooms, the hotel also offers Premier Rooms and 47-square-meter Romantic Luxury Rooms.
Strategically situated in the central area of Ubud, Tetirah is surrounded by many interesting places to explore – Ubud Palace and Ubud Monkey Forest are perfect for cultural enthusiasts, while Ubud Art Market is remarkable to shop some ethnic souvenirs. The area also is also filled with numerous dining spots to please our palate. As for the daredevils, you can go rafting in the Ayung River with a respectable tour operator, like the Sobek Bali Adventure.
At the end of our staycation, my family agreed to rate Tetirah with a 9.5 out of 10. Now, whenever Ubud calls, without a doubt, Tetirah will be on our top pick.
