4 Reasons We Love Tirtha Gangga
Located in the eastern part of Bali, just off Karangasem, Tirtha Gangga Water Palace is truly a must visit for every history and photo enthusiasts. We went to the site last month, and these are the reasons why we fell in love with it.
Built in the 1940’s by the King of Karangasem, Tirtha Gangga – which means the River Gangga – is stunning with a big pond as one of its main features. The pond is even more unique with stepping stones inside where visitors can stand and pose on for some photos.
The pond is home to numerous fish. So, don’t forget to buy some fish food at the local market that stands in front of the palace. Children must love feeding the fish!
Cultural enthusiasts will be amazed by the intricate design of the palace. Aside from the pond, Tirtha Gangga also has a tall fountain. The water feature is surrounded by a manicured garden that is made unique with stone carvings on the bridge.
Along the walking path right outside the palace, there is a number of stalls selling food and souvenirs. After spending an afternoon exploring the site, we couldn’t resist to have some fresh fruit that is available at one of the stores. From oranges to snake fruit – they are totally refreshing!
