It has been six years since Scratch Sports Bar & Grill opened, and the restaurant is still a favorite among residents and sports enthusiasts in the Kerobokan area. The location is quite hidden as the place is nestled off the heart of Kerobokan, but that’s what makes it even more charming because it has that secluded feeling. Walking into the restaurant, visitors feel the warm hospitality instantly from the simple interior and friendly greetings from the staff.
The restaurant is born from the passion, determination and confidence of the founders, and that’s why the name “Scratch” fits perfectly because everything here is made from zero. The menu is not only reasonable in price but also unpretentious in flavor with topnotch quality using mostly locallysourced ingredients, making each dish a perfect match to nibble while watching a sports competition on the LED TV. During my visit to the venue for lunch, I personally think that this is the place to be for everyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing meal time only minutes away from bustling Seminyak.
All the Flavors
This gastro sports pub offers selections of homemade comfort food for every palate. One of the favorites is the best-selling Scratch Burger which consists of 200 grams of premium Australian beef patty, smoked bacon onion jam, white cheddar and Dijon dill aioli served with rosemary sea salt fries and ketchup that is made in-house.
However, I was looking for something lighter that day, so I opted for the Bar Bites as a starter. This dish presents perfectly fried eggplant that is crispy on the outside, and it comes with savory chick pea falafel that is made delicious with fresh lemon dill tzatziki. Not only is this light bite amazing for an appetizer, it could also be the right choice of snack while the game is on TV.
For my main course, I chose the Autumn in Vancouver from the signature list. This pan-seared red snapper dish is truly satisfying as the fish is cooked to perfection with sriracha lemon garlic butter, making the skin so crispy while the meat is succulent. This dish is made even more remarkable with sautéed asparagus and cauliflower couscous. Every element comes together with tomato mango salsa sauce that is rich with flavor. Closing the dining experience, the Snickers is the best option. Serving warm peanut butter and chocolate blondie, this dessert will please every sweet tooth with French vanilla bean ice cream and salted caramel drizzle.
Don’t forget to pair each meal with Scratch Bali’s refreshing cocktails and mocktails – I chose the lime and passionfruit spritzer which was so energizing during the hot sunny day. But for those who are up for some alcoholic drinks, the Bloody Mary is definitely a winner with five different styles to choose from – Canadian, American, Japanese, Thai or Mexican. The bar also serves imported crafted beer from New Zealand that makes a wonderful companion to the dining experience.
