Getting pampered at the newly opened Arkipela Spa...

Nestled on the top floor of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, Arkipela Spa & Wellness is indeed a sanctuary to release stress and tension, especially after working for a whole week. The ambiance of the spa is already relaxing, but it is the treatments that make the spa even more unique compared to other beauty places in Bali. “Arkipela” actually means archipelago, and living up to its name, Arkipela Spa presents choices of authentic ancient healing traditions from throughout Indonesia.

On my visit to the spa, I found that all of the beauty rituals here are irresistible. Sipping the welcome drink of Arkipela homemade sweet shot made of tomatoes, oranges and carrots, I checked out the spa menu and finally decided to have the “Arkipela Signature Massage” that is designed for relaxation as well as revitalization and rejuvenation. It is a complete package for what my body needed. And as I walked down the hall from the spa lobby to the treatment room, I was in awe with the magnificent ceilings and the interior design of the spa. The space felt so luxurious yet warm, and I couldn’t wait to experience their treatment...

    Finding Balance
The 90-minute Arkipela Signature Massage is truly amazing as it combines Balinese, Lomi-Lomi, and Swedish massage techniques, incorporated with acupressure and Yoga-inspired movements. It has a lot of benefits, including easing muscle tensions and stagnation – which I desperately needed, – improving circulation and flexibility, balancing the body and mind and providing a sense of lightness and enhanced wellbeing. No wonder the treatment is amazingly balanced my mind, body and soul.

The beauty journey began with a foot ritual. While my feet is soaked in a basin filled with warm water, I felt so relaxed already. I felt even more comfortable when my therapist explained the details of the treatment and made sure the room temperature was cool enough and the volume of the background music was not too loud – she showed extra care, and it assured me that I was in good hands.

The massage was firm but also calming at the same time and I fell asleep for almost the entire treatment. After about an hour laying down on the massage bed and enjoying a rejuvenating massage treatment, I could feel my tensed muscles began to relax. My upper back that felt sore before finally started to loosen up, as well as my neck and shoulders. When the treatment was over, I opened my eyes slowly, feeling all refreshed and energized.

    Go Traditional
Aside from the Arkipela Signature Massage, the spa also offers selections of traditional rituals that are just as extraordinary. One of them being the Buatanku Apothecary Experience where visitors can make their own herbal blends at their unique blend bar, followed by a series of treatments including a full body massage, as well as a facial and skin treatment. Another interesting option is the Ginger Kerokan Treatment to help boost the immune system. This ritual is very much inspired by Indonesian centuries-old healing method where slices of ginger are used to scrape the back or the chest of the customer.

Whichever treatment a customer would like to take, please note that it is essential to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the appointed time, as every visitor will need to fill in a form that consists of information on their body condition, including any allergies and medication, as well as the parts of body to focus on or avoid and the preference of the pressure.
